It’s almost sunglass season again, but silly old you made the mistake of just tossing your shades in the junk drawer at the beginning of fall. As you opened and closed it over the past six or so months, they’ve gotten all dinged and scratched up. Thankfully for you, there are five different ways that you can fix scratched sunglasses.
Vehicle Wax.
Since you can use vehicle wax to remove scratches on your car, you can naturally use it fix scratched sunglass lenses. Just apply in a circular motion and then use a clean cloth to wipe the excess away.
Baking Soda.
Now, you can’t just use baking soda to fix scratched sunglass lenses–you have to make a paste using two parts baking soda and one part water. Rub the paste on, buff the scratches, then rinse it off after about 10 seconds.
Pledge.
Spray some Pledge on just like you’d spray cleaning solution, and clean. It’s that easy. Not only can Lemon Pledge fix scratched sunglass lenses, but it can also make them smell nice and clean, too!
Brass Polish.
Get a cotton ball, and use it to apply some brass polish on your sunglasses. Then, use a clean cloth to remove any leftover polish and you’ll be all set.
Toothpaste.
Before you fix scratched sunglass lenses with toothpaste, check to make sure it’s nonabrasive, whitening, nor minty. Also, make sure it’s a paste and not a gel. Like you’d do with the brass polish, use a cotton ball to apply some on. About 10 seconds after application, rinse the glasses off with some water, and et voila!
If you can’t fix scratched sunglass lenses by any of these ways, then you can always replace sunglass lenses. It’s not quite as convenient as these repair methods, but replacing sunglass lenses is pretty easy to do. Plus, replacement sunglass lenses are cheap. You won’t even have to worry about getting Ray Ban or Oakley replacement lenses–aftermarket sunglass lens replacements work just fine.
